Does Tyreke Evans need to read Cowbell Kingdom?

There seems to be some confusion in Tyreke Evans' camp about the drafting of Jimmer Fredette.  In an interview with Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports, Evans "has some questions" about his place in the Kings world.  And with the lockout in place, they can't answer this quandary. “I don’t know how we are playing it,” Evans ... More

Your midday cup o’ Kings: Francisco Garcia

As the roster sits today, the Sacramento Kings have only two players over the age of 25 - the 31 year-old John Salmons, who was acquired on draft day in a trade with the Bucks, and Francisco Garcia, the longest tenured King, who will be 30 on December 14th. It's strange how time flies. It seems like only yesterday that Francisco was a rookie riding the pine for a Kings playoff team that included Mike Bibby, Brad Miller, Ron Artest, Bonzi Wells and Shareef Abdur-Rahim. These clips below bring us back to a different Cisco. Injuries have derailed and slowed the 29 year old wing over the last three years. Three seasons ago it was ankle injuries that cost him 27 games. Two seasons ago, a freak accident in the weight room resulting in a catastrophic arm injury, costing Cisco all but 25 games. Last season, Garcia missed 24 games with a left calf strain that took a long time to heal because of a set back during recovery. By seasons end, Garcia appeared worn down, not entirely unexpected after missing so much time during the year. More after the jump... ... More

Video: Jimmer Fredette teaches kids the art of shooting

Typically this time of year we're knee deep in NBA free agency and summer league action.  But with the league in work stoppage mode, pro-am leagues and youth basketball camps hosted by NBA players have become all the rage this July. After a rough (pun intended) weekend on the golf course at the American Century Classic, ... More

Day two with Jimmer Fredette at the American Century Championship

The folks out at the 17th hole of the American Century Championship are nothing if not subtle.  As Jimmer Fredette and Charles Barkley approached the small sandy beach of Lake Tahoe's South Shore, the ruckus crowd made noise, threw basketballs to the players and um ... made proposals?  Just another day on the course for these two guys, who by all accounts garnered the largest roving crowd.

My intention was to give these guys a few holes, then break off and catch some of the other players around the course.  That didn't happen.  Early in the round, a mystery guest showed up on the scene to aid these two golfers in their quest to move up the leader board ... or at least stop from moving all the way to the bottom.  At the request of Jimmer Fredette, world renowned swing doctor, Hank Haney joined the Fredette/Barkley twosome and the instruction began. I would love to tell you that the two players who were tied for second to last coming into the day turned it all around and stormed for +27 points like Dallas Cowboy QB Tony Romo did.  Haney is good, but no one is that good.  What he did do, however, was help Barkley hit multiple 300+ yard drives while building an incredible foundation for Jimmer. Day one with Jimmer Fredette at the American Century Championship

The golf gods smiled down from the heavens Friday at the American Century Championship.  The weather was an incredible 70-degrees, the stars were out everywhere and the tiny white balls fly a lot further at 6,200 feet.  Although we are here to cover Jimmer Fredette, there is a golf tournament that needs to be played as well, complete with winners and paychecks.  Coming into the weekend, Tony Romo, Rick Rhoden and Billy Joe Tolliver were the favorites.  After day one, Jack Wagner (29 points), Chris Chandler (24 points) and Jeremy Roenick (24 points) are leading the way with some of the tournament's favorites still within striking distance. Your morning cup o’ Kings: Jimmer wins big at the ESPYs

More of a quick hitter than a cup o' Kings this morning, but last night at the ESPYs, Jimmer Fredette took home yet another major award.  This time around it was the ESPY for Best Male College Athlete to go along with a mountain of other awards, including the AP National Player of the Year and the John R. Wooden Award as the ... More

Your morning cup o’ Kings: Tyreke Evans

Today we have an abbreviated, late edition of cup o' Kings.  There are a ton of clips of Tyreke Evans as both a college and professional player floating around the world of Youtube. But if you search hard enough, you can find some incredible footage of Tyreke Evans as a teenage phenom. After a spectacular first season with the Kings, which included such feats as winning the NBA's Rookie of the Year Award and finishing with averages of more than 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game, Evans seemed primed to take a big leap as a sophomore.  Unfortunately, a nasty case of plantar fasciitis really slowed the former Memphis star, forcing him to miss 25 games and limiting his mobility throughout the season. Year three is a big season for Tyreke. The Kings have already added John Salmons and Jimmer Fredette in an attempt to better space the floor and cause more mismatch situations for Evans. If he can stay healthy, continue to improve his perimeter game and build on-court chemistry with DeMarcus Cousins, both the Kings and Tyreke Evans are primed for a big leap in 2011-12. Your morning cup o’ Kings: Rick Reilly, Jimmer Fredette and Dan Patrick

Today, we have something a little bit different for our morning cup.  There is video, of course, but also some heated discussion.  On Friday, July 8th, ESPN's Rick Reilly used his reoccurring column, I wrote, you wrote to answer some of the "fan mail" he has received from Jimmer Fredette enthusiasts.  The nexus of this debate stems from the article, Jimmer grows dimmer that Reilly scribed back on March 25th after watching Fredette in his final college performance.  Reilly appears to have made up his mind on the future of Kings rookie Jimmer Fredette, and more than three months later, he's back to throw a little salt in that wound.
JIMMER FREDETTE I wrote ... BYU's super scorer Jimmer Fredette will be a bust in the NBA because he's too small, too slow and too bored by defense. In fact, I promised to donate $5,000 to Jimmer's favorite charity if he started even one game in his first year, which will be with the Sacramento Kings. You wrote ... Jimmer to the Kings following a trade of Beno Udrih. I'll let you off easy and you can just donate $2,500 to me instead of the whole $5k to charity. ~ Mike Barlow (San Antonio) I will. Soon as you start a game in the NBA. So Rick, have you started setting aside some money from each paycheck to go towards the charity of Jimmer's choice after he officially starts his first game now? ~ Greg Jones (Houston) Yes, I've been selling all the razor blades BYU fans have been sending me in envelopes. It adds up. What is Jimmer's favorite charity? I'm dying to know where your $5,000 is going. ~ Jerry Izu (Valencia, Calif.) Jimmer represents The Biceps Project. It's a program to help incurable gunners ice their shooting arms.
