NBA releases list of early entry candidates for 2014 NBA Draft

The NBA recently released the list of early entrants into this year’s draft.  Exactly 75 players have filed as early entry candidates for the 2014 NBA Draft.

Of this year’s early entrants, 45 players are from the collegiate ranks while 30 are of the international variety.  Each player was required to submit a letter to the league office no later than last Sunday, April 27.  They can still, however, withdraw their names from consideration for the draft by notifying the NBA no later than 5 pm EST on Monday, June 16.

It is worth noting that former North Carolina guard PJ Hairston is the only early entry candidate from the D-League.  After leaving Chapel Hill last year, Hairston continued his career with the D-League’s Texas Legends.  Five other D-Leaguers are automatically eligible for the NBA Draft: Thanasis Antetokounmpo (Delaware 87ers), Aquille Carr (Delaware 87ers), Cleveland Melvin (Erie BayHawks), Norvel Pelle (Delaware 87ers) and Elijah Pittman (Delaware 87ers).

Below is the complete list of players who have applied for early entry into the 2014 NBA Draft.

The draft will be held on Thursday, June 26 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, but a month before that, its order will be determined in the league’s annual draft lottery.  The Kings, who finished with a 28-54 record, have the seventh best odds of winning this year’s lotto, which takes place on May 20.  According to News10’s Brian May, Kings majority owner Vivek Ranadivé will represent the franchise at the annual lottery drawing.
