Meet Aaron Brooks, your newest Sacramento King

The Sacramento Kings have been a constant source of news for the last week to ten days.  Between mini-camp, summer league, free agency and trades, there has been very few dull moments.  Today the team called a news conference to introduce the newest King, point guard Aaron Brooks, who was signed to a two-year deal on Monday afternoon.

Brooks was an unrestricted free agent who became more readily available when the Phoenix Suns removed his restricted free agent status earlier this month.  The 27-year old out of the University of Oregon was the 26th pick in the 2007 NBA draft by the Houston Rockets, but spent last season playing in China while the lockout situation was being tended to.

Brooks won the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award following the 2009-10 season, averaging career highs in points (19.6) and assists (5.3).  He has long been a favorite of Kings President of Basketball Operations, Geoff Petrie, who was all smiles today.
