Injury Report: Gay and Cousins questionable

Cousins-looking-down

The Kings’ injury report for today’s matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers.

  • The Sacramento Kings added DeMarcus Cousins to the injury report this afternoon with a right ankle sprain.  The 24-year-old center has been limping noticeably in the locker room lately and is questionable for tonight’s showdown with the Los Angeles Clippers.
  • Rudy Gay has been upgraded to questionable for tonight’s contest with a left knee capsule sprain after missing last night’s game against the Miami Heat.  Gay is averaging 20.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists a game for Sacramento this season. The nine-year NBA vet has missed just three games due to injury and is listed as day-to-day with the knee injury.  Derrick Williams will start in Gay’s place if he can’t go.
  • Carl Landry is ruled out tonight against the Clippers with a right wrist sprain. He will miss his second straight game and second of the season after appearing in the Kings’ first 38 contests. Landry had emerged as Sacramento’s best offensive player off the bench, scoring 8.2 points on 53.5 percent shooting in 18.7 minutes per match.
  • Omri Casspi had missed the Kings’ last five games and 12 of 17 overall with a left knee bone contusion, but he made his return to the floor last night versus the Heat and produced two points and two assists in 17 minutes. Casspi is listed as probable for tonight’s game, as a precautionary measure.
  • Ramon Sessions will be out once again with a low back strain. The point guard has been battling the issue for nearly three weeks and has missed 11 straight and 12 of 13 games for Sacramento. Sessions is averaging a career-low 6.1 points and 2.5 assists in 17.1 minutes per game (25 appearances, three starts). Ray McCallum has assumed backup point duties in his place.
  • Rookie forward Eric Moreland is out for the season with a left shoulder labral tear. He made three appearances, totaling two minutes of action in the NBA this season.

According to the Kings’ “Participation Status Key,” Cousins and Gay’s probable status make them a 50 percent chance to go. Casspi’s probable status makes him a 75 percent chance to go. We will keep you updated on the status of each player as we find out more.

In related news, Quincy Miller, called up from the Reno Bighorns this morning, is expected to be in uniform versus the Clippers.
