Cowbell Kingdom Podcast Ep 48: Sports Illustrated’s Sam Amick on NBA free agency, the Olympics and more

by Jonathan Santiago & James Ham

Jeremy Lin, Omer Asik, Nic Batum and Roy Hibbert are just some of the players earning big pay days this NBA offseason.  Recorded late last evening, Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated joined us to share his analysis of free agency thus far, as well as a few Kings’ related topics.

With the Olympics just a few weeks away, Team USA has begun preparation for the 2012 games with training camp in Las Vegas.  Considering the lack of big men depth due to injury, there’s been speculation whether DeMarcus Cousins has a chance to make the roster.  What’s the likelihood we see the Kings’ big man in London?

I talked to Jerry Colangelo the other day about it.  And the fact that neither Colangelo or Coach Mike Krzyzewski are completely closing the door on somebody like that making the team by way of training camp – playing well, basically playing your way onto the Olympic team.  I think it’s in an indication that things are fluid enough and flexible enough that there’s always a small chance.

Listen after the jump…
