***Breaking news. Starting line-ups in for pre-season game #1.

News and notes from today’s shoot around:

  • The starting line-up for tonight is……..Beno Udrih, Tyreke Evans, Marcus Landry, Carl Landry and DeMarcus Cousins.
  • Westphal on Marcus Landry: “Right now, I think he’s fit in to what the job description at that position calls for better than anyone else and he’s earned it through training camp.”
  • Carl Landry on playing next to little brother in the starting line-up, “He works hard, he deserves it. I think he’s really been competitive in camp. It should be interesting- he’s nervous.”
  • Marcus Landry on starting tonight, “It’s great, it will be my first NBA start and I’m excited just to show what I’ve been working on.”
  • On playing with brother Carl, “It’s good, hopefully we can really connect and play some good team basketball.”
  • DeMarcus Cousins told me he was nervous but excited to get out there. No direct quote- I was playing ball boy for the big man.
  • Coach Westphal chats with Pooh Jeter.

On the injury front, Pooh Jeter has been upgraded to probable. Jackson, Dalembert and Whiteside are all still out.

  • Francisco Garcia will not be in the building tonight- he is attending to a personal matter.

Quiet day out here at the practice facility. The players look like they are loose and ready to play, even if it is short-handed. Expect to see Donté Greene a little at the four and also Connor Atchley to eat some minutes.
