He’s no longer a King, but Donté Greene continues to give back to the Sacramento community. The former Kings forward joins us on the Cowbell Kingdom podcast to discuss the second annual Goon Squad Classic and what might be next in his NBA career.
Greene on when he felt his time as a King was over:
I guess when everybody started getting in their qualifying offers around the league. Not even just in Sac, just guys around the league getting their qualifying offers. And when JT (Jason Thompson) got his, I finally realized that yeah, it’s my time to go ahead and move on and try to get into a better situation.
Greene also adds that he and his agent had no conversations with Kings president Geoff Petrie and coach Keith Smart about returning before qualifying offers were handed out.
